Garner Community Christian Child Care acquires site for new center

This marks the first step in a multi-year project to build a state-of-the art new facility to meet the growing demand for child care services in Hancock County. Construction of a 9,000 square-foot facility and two playgrounds will begin in Spring 2025, and the new center is expected to open in Summer 2026.

Garner, Iowa – In September, Garner Community Christian Child Care (GC4) secured a location for the site of a new child care center.

The facility will be located at the corner of Lyons and Division Streets, with easy access to Garner-Hancock-Ventura High School, Middle School, and Elementary Schools. The sale was tendered as an option to purchase two plots of land totaling 58,530 ft2 (approximately 1.3 acres).

This marks the first step in a multi-year project to build a state-of-the art new facility to meet the growing demand for child care services in Hancock County. Currently, 75% of families who need child care are not able to access it (Source: Iowa Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R)).

Construction of a 9,000 square-foot facility and two playgrounds will begin in Spring 2025, and the new center is expected to open in Summer 2026.

“This marks a major milestone in our capital expansion project,” said Chairman of the GC4 Board of Directors Reid Weiland.
“Now that the site has been secured, we look forward to engaging the community in this important local development project. High-quality child care is essential to attracting young families to the area and supporting the continued growth of our Garner community.”
