GC4 expansion highlighted on KIMT3 News
The Center will support working women and address the growing demand for child care in the Garner region.
On Tuesday November 26, GC4 Chairman of the Board of Directors Reid Weiland appeared in an interview on local news station KIMT3. In his conversation with reporter Sandra McCall, Weiland outlined the growing need for child care in North Central Iowa. He said he believes child care facilities are on par with other community services such as fire departments, ambulance departments, and community centers.
Weiland also highlighted the benefits of expanded child care services for working women, in particular.
"If they don't have daycare they need to step out of the workforce for six years, until the child is five to six years old. That [child care] allows for upward mobility, especially for women." – Reid Weiland, GC4 Chairman of the Board
Amy Brownlee of IMT also weighed in to explain the value of quality child care for area employers.
"If we don't have a strong community, we won't have the team members in order to retain a strong business. So they work very closely, very hand-in-hand." – Amy Brownlee, Vice President and General Manager, IMT
