Zrostlik Family and Stellar Industries pledge $750,000 to support GC4!

The major donation puts GC4 closer to reaching its first million-dollar milestone in the Capital Expansion campaign.

Garner, Iowa – This week, the Zrostlik family and Stellar Industries announced donations of $750,000 to support the construction of a new facility for Garner Community Christian Child Care (GC4).

The Zrostliks contributed the first $500,000 to launch fundraising efforts for a $3.9 million-dollar, 9,000 square-foot building, which will be located at the corner of Lyons and Division streets in downtown Garner.

Francis L. Zrostlik founded Iowa Mold Tooling in 1961 and Stellar Industries in 1990, and since his passing in 2000, the Zrostlik family has been committed to honoring his legacy through philanthropic outreach in Garner.

“Francis built leading businesses here in Garner, and it was always his vision to keep as much investment here as he could,” said Dave Zrostlik, son of Francis and President and CEO of Stellar Industries. “We’re proud to support GC4 and believe it can play a critical role in the continued growth and vitality of Garner.”

Stellar Industries, a leading producer of work trucks, trailers, and accessories, also announced a commitment of $250,000. The donation supporting construction of the new building deepens the partnership with GC4, which Stellar has financially supported for more than two years. As part of this on-going relationship, more than 800 workers at the employee-owned and operated manufacturer headquartered in Garner will continue to be eligible for a 5% discount on child care tuition at the Center.

The project aligns with Stellar’s philanthropic priorities of investing in local communities, social services, and education.

“We believe in small-town values, and we’ve been a long-time supporter of GC4” said Stellar VP of Engineering Quality and GC4 Board of Directors member Matt Schroeder. ‘“Hard-working families rely on quality child care to be more productive, so we’re eager to support the expansion of GC4 and the positive impact it will have on the Garner community.”

Together, the donations from the Zrostlik family and Stellar Industries add up to $750,000, or more than a fifth of the total $3.9M price tag for the new child care facility.

“We could not be more honored and excited to receive this incredible commitment from the Zrostliks and Stellar,” said Reid Weiland, Managing Partner of Weiland Farms and Chairman of the nonprofit Board of Directors of GC4.

“We have so much going for us in Garner – from amazing employers to quality of life and proximity to a lake – and we don't want to become dots on the map like so many other rural towns in Iowa. We believe this state-of-the-art new child care facility will allow us to remain relevant, and actually attract new families to the region,” Weiland added.
